Dr Peter Hammond
MD FRCP
Consultant Endocrinologist. GMC no 3251665.
I have been endocrinology lead for the Leeds Regional Gender Identity Service since 2007 and am on the Gender Recognition Panel's list of gender specialists. I have considerable experience in balancing hormone treatment so that clients' expectations can be met as effectively and safely as possible.
I lecture widely on gender endocrinology at local and national level and I am particularly keen to increase the understanding of transgender hormone treatment amongst endocrinology trainees and GP colleagues so that there is a better nationwide support structure for transgender people.
I have been a consultant physician specialising in diabetes and endocrinology in Harrogate since 1996. I have established Harrogate as a nationally recognised centre for insulin pump therapy and related technologies for managing type 1 diabetes and have been expert adviser to NICE on insulin pump therapy and developing the NICE Type 1 Diabetes in Adults guidelines.
I have been Head of the School of Postgraduate Medicine for Yorkshire and the Humber since 2015. I qualified from Oxford university in 1987 and trained mostly at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, completing an MD thesis on estrogen regulation of prolactin secretion.
Please contact my practice manager Jason Batchelor via email at endocrinology.booking@protonmail.com if you would like to arrange an appointment.
