Dr Robin Dundas
BA (Hons), DCounsPsych, CPsychol, HCPC Registered
Chartered psychologist

Dr Leighton J Seal
I am a Health Care Professions Council registered and British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist and gender specialist with over seven years' experience as a psychological therapist. In addition to my private practice, I work as a gender specialist and therapist at Charing Cross Gender Identity Clinic.

My aims as a practitioner are to offer a therapeutic relationship through which psychological and emotional difficulties can be explored in relation to gender and also to explore the relationships between gender and other life issues, offering possibilities for living and relating more fully in the world. I'm unable to offer quick fixes or easy solutions to life's problems. However, I do have many years' experience supporting individuals to overcome alienation, pain and distress through an open and affirmative, exploratory relationship. I work from the assumption that people themselves are the ultimate authority on their lives and I trust that without exception, my clients have the capacity not only to bear life's challenges, but also to heal and to grow. I believe that a warm, open and equal relationship in therapy is essential to this process.

Although I work with specific problems and have a specialism in gender, I believe effective therapy addresses the whole of a person's experience; therefore, I explore psychological problems within the entire framework of an individual's life. Importantly, I don't view psychological or emotional or gender issues as pathology, abnormality or illness.

In my work I use a variety of therapies, including existential and postmodern approaches. I also have an interest in compassion - focused and mindfulness - based therapies.

Please note: I only accept self-referral for therapeutic/counselling support and don't accept self-referrals for assessment for medical intervention (chest surgery or commencement of hormones). I will only accept these types of referrals through colleagues at Gender Care, where appropriate.
