Dr Kirpal Sahota is an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist at the Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) at the Tavistock Portman NHS Trust.

Dr Sahota offers clinical services in support of all stages of the transition pathway and respect for all identities. Dr Sahota offers impartial advice, a thorough and sympathetic approach, and efficient administration. She is a specialist in the assessment and management of gender dysphoria; hormone treatment (testosterone, oestrogen, testosterone blockers), referral for chest surgery and male and female SRS. Dr Sahota has experience of working with a range of chest and SRS surgeons.

Dr Sahota qualified from Sheffield Medical School and completed her postgraduate Psychiatric training at The Charing Cross Hospital Rotation and she undertook her higher education at The Bethlem & Maudsley Hospital Trust, and became a Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS in 2000.

She has been actively involved in service developments, quality improvement activities, teaching and supervision, and has presented at numerous National and International conferences. Dedicated to improving the patient experience and ensuring safety and best outcomes and respecting choice.

Clinical expertise in Gender and Sexuality, Veteran and other victims of trauma and abuse, psychosexual medicine and Intersectional identities.

Research interests include surgical outcomes and longer term and patient decision making. She remains actively involved in audit and research activities with general practitioners and surgeon colleagues. Dr Sahota has been a medical member of the fitness to practice tribunal (General Medical Council) and undertakes expert witness work for Tribunals and Courts.

Dr Sahota offers appointments at weekends and in the evenings in London and can consider virtual clinics.
